Mayre, my daughter, had the same problem. Because of her repaired cleft palate, Mayre had constant problems with colds, a runny nose and ear infections. Like you and many of my friends, I tried everything. On more than one occassion I lost my "lunch" just seeing the gunch the came out of my daughter's nose. My doctor, whom I really admire, continued to give Mayre antibiotic after antibiotic which I did not feel was the most effective treatment since we would return the next month with the same problem.
NO MORE RUNNY NOSE SOLUTION:

Should your child not want to take a vitamin, then it is your job as a parent to ensure they do. Children are definitely allowed to make choices...but not when it comes to health or safety. Parents are in charge of health and safety issues. Present your child with the new antioxidant or vitamin. Give them the choice whether they want the vitamin on the blue plate or the red plate. answer,It's never too late!!!! I don't care if you child is 35 or older...it is never to late to practice effective parenting techniques.
1. Take an honest look at what you did with your children.
2. If you used hurtful methods such as yelling, hitting or ignoring....make amends to your children. Tell them how very sorry you are for your inappropriate behaviors.
3. Give them honest information about why you did what you did. For example you might say...Yelling was what my parents did so I continued to yell because that is all I knew how to do. I didn't take the time to learn new ways of behaving. I am so sorry! or I yelled because I was mad at myself and I took it out on you. I am so sorry! (Be sincere and be honest)
4. Tell your children why you will change and how you will change...Yelling was not an effective way to speak to you. It was disrespectful to you and it made me feel horrible inside. I have read a new book Any Kid Can be a Super Star and it made sense to me. I will stop my yelling. On occasion, I might slip up, would you help me. If I slip, would you say 'MOM you asked me to remind you if you slipped. I feel scared because you are yelling again. Please stop and take a deep breathe.' Together, I know we can have a more peaceful and happy home.
